It can start with the general attitude of motorists.....
I have tried cycling on the road, and concluded that if I wanted
to survive till old age, I should just do it on pavements and go
slower and treat pedestrians as the unquestioned kings.
Unfortunately, when people do acknowledge that perhaps cycling
on pavements make more sense for cyclists, some from that said
group abuse this privilege and take little heed for people.
So whence the cyclist go? The pavement or the road?
I am for the former.
But that's of course not for those high-end bicycles.
Well, I understand that people sometimes need to cycle on the road
becoz bo bian. I too used to cycle on roads, including up and down
kemangan Hill (yes, I used to have great leg strength and
stamina... Used to >__>)
Many a times, if we observe basic traffic rules, there are no
problem... I dun find coexisting difficult with vehicles when I'm
cycling on the road... But of coz one can argue that there are
difficult drivers (and yes, by that point, they will still be
difficult even the 1.6m wide sidelane were marked)...
Not sure if U get my point by finding the scenario
familiar... When there is "groups", be it cycling, fishing, worker
union, watever...
U notice they will push for things that further their
interest... and only furthering their interest... Hence the mixed
feeling that I'm having... They are not wrong in their arguement,
but the intention they have is ... ... ...
